Just curious. With a gateway being used for my connection, how would I tweak, if I can tweak at all?
Sould I tweak my NIC for best network porformance vs. best PPPoE performance? Or sould I try to hack my gateway (if its even possible) and tweak its settings?
Btw, my gateway is a 3Com Home Networking Gateway. Discontinued model, but it gets the job done.
Make sure you get newest version Download SG Optimizer to your desktop, select connection type at top, select optimal settings at bottom, click on apply changes at very bottom, Select adapter you are using and REBOOT
If you wish to enter custom TCP recieve window select custom settings at bottom, enter what you wish, click on apply changes at bottom and REBOOT.
If using Cablenuts adjuster too, you must first bring up adjuster, click on clear all boxes at bottom and reboot, then download and install optimizer.
Optimizer in my signature:)

I take it the gateway/router/whatever makes no difference on one's connection?
I thought that since I am using PPPoE, and the gateway handles the connection, that my settings wouldn't matter. I figured the gateway has its own settings and would use that to handle traffic to and from the net. I guess it just acts as a "middle man" and uses whatever settings my computer is useing?
Edit: Just downloaded and try to run it. It wont even run. :(

The only tweak you would make in the gateway if you can is the MTU if you can't change it at all, at least make sure your PC's Ethernet card MTU's match the value of the gateway. The value of the geateway's MTU can be given to you by any tweak tester.
