CISCO UPGRADES FIREWALLS | News: Internet Week
Cisco has upgraded the processors running the 506 and 515 PIX
firewalls, adding up to two times the throughput to each. Cisco also
outlines Version 6.2 of the PIX operating system that adds PPP
support over Ethernet, adding enterprise and small office
functionality. PIX firewalls will now function as a virtual private
network client, Cisco said. A major enterprise enhancement with PIX
OS Version 6.2 is the ability to integrate two existing networks that
use overlapping IP address spaces.

Network Associates has sold its Gauntlet firewall business to Secure
Computing. The deal includes the transfer of technology and customer
support contracts. Ultimately, current Network Associates customers
will have to migrate to Securing Computing's products. Financial
terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
