View Full Version : ZA Pro Issues
I am having a weird situation here. My ZA Pro all of a sudden wouldn't keep it's settings. Everytime I reboot my computer I have to click yes and tell it to remember my choices. This started all of a sudden yesterday. I have been running the latest version of it for awhile now and I haven't changed any of my settings recently.
Any ideas on what is making this happen?
this is off subject but.....Nice AVATAR!!!:D

thanks HayC :) , i already tried that Legalmind it didnt work. i even erased previous settings.
I left you your answer in the General forum. ;)
thanks blebs, i responded back in there :)
Roody that seems to happen when you upgrade or uninstall and reinstall. I think it's just because the internet log folder is alway's left behind and intact. Now you know what to do the next time it happens. Glad I could help.:D
yeah you did help blebs, thanks again :)
unfortunately, this problem has reared it's ugly head again. although i know how to fix this does anyone have some ideas on what i can do to prevent this from continuing. all of a sudden ive had it happen 3 times within the span of a week and prior to then never had it happen that many times since I have ran ZA Pro which has been for over a year.
any help would be appreciated. Thx
Did you completely shutdown ZAP then delete the entire Internet Log folder and empty the recycle bin? I can't remember if that's what you did or not. I know if I followed the directions from the ZL site, mine were being corrupted again and again. That's why I deleted the whole darn folder and started all over again.
Hi Roody,
To uninstall ZA you should do this first. It applies to anyone removing ZA and needing a complete removal. It isn't required for an upgrade.
Go to www.zonelabs.com and enter *uninstall* (w/out the **) in the search bar at top right.
You will get a result that will show a 6 x repeat of what seems to be the same page. They will be different and will apply to different operating systems. Find the one you use and follow the instructions.
Then do a search of your system after a reboot and check if all the ZA files are gone.
ZoneAlarm is a very sticky program. It likes nothing better than to leave bits and pieces behind.
Hope this helps.

I've had the same problem as you Roody, i've done the complete uninstall, used regcleaner, then searched all the HDD to remove anything ZA related. Also removed the two non PnP drivers from the hardware device manager that were left over.
So i thought i had everything clean to reinstall ZA...however ,
during the reinstall ZA still said it found a previous installation and asked if i wanted to keep or transfer the settings to this installation....so somewhere there were still some sneaky files i didn't find that needed removing. However, at this prompt when asked to transfer settings, i clicked "No" and continued with the
reinstallation, and sofar i have no longer the problems of keeping ZA settings, everything is working as should be.
I have to check out the link posted by Croc to see what files were left behind though, for future references.
hey MousePotato i think you will find Croc's link very helpful. I used to get that previous settings window popping up also, but after following that link it got rid of my old settings. now i'm hoping I dont have to deal with that anytime soon. :)

I've ran into an instance or two where the zone alarm wouldn't completely uninstall properly, causing the internet connection to fail completely. So I would have to go in and remove any and all instances that I could find in the registry (usually by doing a find on "zone"), remove all those entries, & restart. Once I did that, the internet connection was restored, & I could reinstall ZA without a problem...
I had that problem a long time ago with ZAP. When I reinstalled it on my NEW install, I used Cleansweep to monitor the install and it kept a track on the Setup. Made it easier to remove. :)
Kazaa or Grokster will not open when the new ZA pro is running
and I have not figured out any settings to apply to these spyware
progs to allow them to.If I shut down ZA they will open,
and then I can start it back up.Any help?
Why even bother with zone when there is tiny!
