I just discovered that I can get cable internet access now for the exact same price as my current aDSL. Installation of the modem is free and per month price is only pennies apart.
As I don't have any experience with cable, I would like some user opinions regarding what they would do.
I generally use internet service for online gaming (Nascar 4 and GPL) and browsing. Occasionally, it helps out with research.
I have been happy with my aDSL service from Verizon. Consistent 489/81 speeds, but thats it; no option for upgrade at this location. Service has been solid with only 3-4 interruptions that I know of since installation in Oct 2000.
My area is probably not very saturated with cable users. As I understand it, cable slows as users near you sign on.
How does this affect you in the game?
For users with experience with both; if you had to pick one for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Thanks,
Steve Campbell

Go with cable if you can. For asdl to work well, You must be near the phone office. The closer you are the faster the downloads.

Mikey,
My provider for cable would be Adelphia.
I appreciate all the responses. I am tempted to stay with what I have, as I know what to expect.
The idea of higher latencies on cable doesn't thrill me. I know these may vary, but the old saying kind of fits here:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Thanks,
