If I were the sharpest, tweakiest, geekiest tweaker going on cable, how fast would
or could my downloads of movies be on,
say, WINMX? I need to get an idea of what
to shoot for. Right now, the max speed I get
using cable on a WINMX download is between
20 and 30 k/s.

I am running winxp with a Duron 750
that is already starting to seem
anciently small.

When downloading with a file share program you'll only get what the upload cap is on the other end. Usually 20 - 30k/sec since most ISP's cap the upload fairly low. You might get lucky with the odd connection having a higher cap on uploads.

Since they are uploading the files to you via WinMX(server) or whatever, it is thier upload cap that determines the max.
Nothing you can do about it.
