Hello all
I am with NTL UK running a terayon cable modem connected to a duel NIC Windows XP proffesional workstation. The one NIC connects to the modem and the other to a hub which is to a Windows 2000 domain.
The problem that I am having is that the connection seems to drop every 2 hours or so although if I do an ipconfig the DHCP issued address is still registered and bound to the NIC.
The only way that I can get the connection back is by doing an ipconfig /release and then an ipconfig /renew. this will then bring the connection back but it will drop again in about 2 hours.
sometimes however the connection will stay up for a week or more but this has only happened twice, but as soon as the PC is rebooted I am back with the same problem again.
I have changed the NIC that connects to the modem which did not help, I have had NTL re register the modem , this did not help, I am at my wits end!!!!!!!
Any help in this regard would be greatly appriciated.
thanks
