My Cable modum not working

Hi there,rather than phone Shaw and get some silly answer,I thought I would ask here.The last month or so my internet seems slow and troublsome.Now for the last few days everytime I open a web page it freezes for 2 minutes before I have any mouse controll for that page.I can still operate other stuff like the start menu when this happens,but not the web page.This happens every new page I go to so I am now slower than my old phone modum.I have tried doing stuff like SFC ect but have had no luck.Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try,Thanks.

what's SFC?

try running a tracerout too servers, that will tell you where the problem is if it's not your modem...

Sounds like a clogged proxy maybe....or slow DNS servers. Who is your ISP? Try looking in the 'connections' tab under tools->internet options. Click on the 'lan settings' button and make sure there are no entries under 'proxy server'.

If your DNS servers are slow, you can manually configure TCP/IP to use different ones. Someone else on here can probably chime in with some alternate DNS server addresses.

Well, if your program locks up and does nothing, geee maybe it could be the SOFTWARE ! = I'd try running i.e repair tool located in the add/remoe programs sec, click i.e 5.0 or 6.0 whatever you have and click remove, on this next screen click repair option, now try it if it doesnt work try reinstalling, if that dont work ping your dns servers and run trace routes(tracert in dos).These two steps will determine your issue, whether its with software or your network isp..:(

sounds to me like you have a software issue or possible a dreaded virus. i really don't think it is an issue with ur isp.
