View Full Version : Can I use my cable modem anywhere?
I was wondering if i can use my cable modem 40 miles away from where i live....I have RR and the other place has Time-Warner also. If not, is my house here the only place i can get broadband?

You can only use your cable modem on the Cable Modem Termination System it is set up on. You may be further resticted to just one port on the CMTS. Not likely that any place 40 miles away would be on the same CMTS

Kip's right. Comcast systems switch from @Home are RDC-specific, so you can use the modems anywhere off the same RDC.
If you are asking if your modem can be reprovisioned to work in RR, then yes....as long as it's DOCSIS.
