Is this true

Instead of using a resistor for a 5v LED all that has to be done is attach the 12v and the 5v lines from the molex instead of the 12v and a ground line with a resistor! Apparently using the 12v and 5v lines drops the current 7v to a steady 5v. Any truth in this?

it will make 7V but its not good electrical practice to do it that way

Maybe it's not good electrical practise but it doensn't harm the psu at all . Mine is running now for a long time and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it . I don't know about those LED but normal practise is to use a resistor . But heck Who wanna go with normal practise . Try putting the led on 7V . If it makes a funny "poof" sound you know you must not do it again :)
