Upgrade from W2K? Fresh install?
I have done both ways and found that upgrade is a real problem. Highly recomended you try fresh install and see how it goes.

too late, I already put back w2k, and I noticed it faster than XP.
This was a brand new machine, with a brand new install of XP.
It was just causing me too many issues, and slowing me down at work, I had to go back to w2k.
Maybe I will try it later again when they come out with sp2 or sp3

Your 256 of ram is the problem IMO. I have 640 on my machine and XP runs like a dream!
