View Full Version : how do i clean install and dual boot win2k and linux?
i partion my harddrive into 2 parts, and install win2k in one of them, then from win2k, install linux into the other partion?
Yeah, install Windows first, then install Linux. If you do it the other way around Windows will erase the MBR and you won't be able to boot Linux.

What about tripple boot? Win98se, Win2k, and Linux?
linux last of the OSes to be installed then?
You should be able to do it in any order, just make sure that when you install Linux you choose to install Lilo in the first sectors of the drive, rather than the Master Boot Record (MBR is used by Windows...).
Yes, but in order for LILO to lunch (if it's not installed in the MBR) a basic MBR must be configured to load LILO from the primary partition.
It's much easier to INstall the Windows OSes (since they always wipe the MBR clean) and then install Linux. Use GNU GRUB to boot all three op systems, LILO is old and ugly looking :D
