Ok I have P4 1.5ghz, running Windows XP, machine is about 1 week old. IE 6, and have to install Java runtime version 1.3 or higher.
Basically I am trying to use CMS which is Cisco mangement software for the web. Whenever I try to access it, and it is starting the java engine, IE 6 crashes in jvm.dll
If I uninstall Java runtime, then IE6 does not crash, but the web page will not work, basically it just shows up like a broken picture. No errors, but the application is not working.
Here is what I have done so far.
Uninstall IE6. Updated the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine.
Anyone else run into this?
Thanks

There are know problems with the newest version of Java Sun, try this one, I use it with no problems:

Just tried it and it did not work. Same thing.
I downloaded Netscape 6.2 and it works fine with that version of Java. The only thing is Netscape does some funky thing where ithe link would normally say http://ciscoswitchip/homepage.htm
it just has
http://homepage.htm
So I get an error and have to manually type in all the urls when using the softtware.
So I have IE 6 where it always crashes, and Netscape 6.2 where it is a real pain.
Man what do I have to do to get this to work maybe try Opera? lol

davy, I forgot to ask, but what OS are you using, I had this same problem with 98SE and IE6 with Java Sun, with XP it works perfect.:)
Davy, I would highly reccomend reverting to an earlier version... prefferably 5.0 but 5.5 works as well... And no... Im not being sarcastic ive tried them all since 3.x

I like ie 5.5 sp2 the best I think IE6 is full of you know what maybe you should try to repair it its in the add/remove programs and then just click on add/remove and then choose repair if you are on earlier versions of windows

I am running Windows XP, and I dont know how to repair in XP. here is why:
In win98se, I can go to Add/Remove in the control pane, click on IE, and it will give me a list of options, to completely uninstall IE< reverat back to last IE version, or Repair IE.
The thing is in XP, there is no IE in add/remove, you have to actaully go to the windows setup components, and uncheck Internet Explorer. In fact once you do that and hit next, it completely uninstalls IE6 without a prompt. I was sort of suprised because I thought IE6 was a fundamental piece that XP needed to run. But in fact you dont. XP runs fine without any version of IE.
I guess I can always uninstall IE 6, and install IE 5.01sp2, but kind of use to IE 6.
