Is it too much to ask for a decent running OS after paying $299.00 ($262.00 my cost) for Windows 2000 Professional (full version)?
I guess so.....
Anyway, the problems started with all my drivers...it wouldn't take the original drivers for my Radeon, Soundblaster, and Motherboard. So i just downloaded the patches from each of the websites. Ok, that fixed everything...hopefully.

1) Now the problem is every so often my computer will lock up. I mean I can't even hit ctrl-alt-Del.??? And if for some odd reason ctrl-alt-Del does come up it shows no tasks running?

2) I get the "Black Screen of Death" :(
If i am surfing the net in IE 5...It will suddenly black out my monitor screen. I can't do nothing but hit the RESTART button....if i hit the POWER button nothing happens.?????(maybe IE 6 upgrade will help?)

3) I don't know if this is a problem but i can hear something hit my hardrive or one of my cd drives when i boot up or shutdown? When i say "hit" i mean make a loud sound...which didn't happen with win98SE.

I downloaded one patch from Microsoft for win2k. Maybe there is something else out there that i can download?
Any help would be appreciated.

Naturally, the old drivers are always useless. I've found for any system to run the best, be it 9X, or 2K, or XP, what I do is download and install the latest drivers for my motherboard first. Then, download and install the latest drivers for every device I have. Then run all the Windows Updates. There are a whole lot of windows updates for 2K. And sticking with quality motherboards with only the chipset that I like, and quality RAM.
