Of course I'll gladly accept anyone's help, but SD was THE MAN last night. I got everything working on my network to share a DSL connection through a Router. Both computers surf, both computers share, everybody's happy, right? Well, until I added the third computer. The third system is a laptop running Windows 98. I installed the (hot swappable) PC Card Linksys 10/100 Ethernet Card, installed the drivers from the diskette, allowed 98 to load software from the CD, connected the card to the Router (and got the appropriate ack. lights), then used the SAME DISK I used on my other 98SE computer to run the Network Setup Wizard. Everything went fine until after the reboot from the Wizard. Here one would expect to see the Network Setup Wizard Complete window, but I got a Failure To Complete Network Setup window. The cause was listed as an inability to detect the network hardware. I ran the Network Troubleshooter in 98 to its completetion where it said "Unable to resolve problem. Find gun and shoot yourself!" I went to Device Manager to inspect the Network Adapter and found everything fine there with no conflicts. I removed the TCP/IP binding from the Adapter (no checks in boxes) and verified binding for NETBeui to the Adapter (all checks in boxes). This last step is what got me up and running last night with my other 98SE machine. So here I stand, patches of hair in hand, wondering what's up? Can anyone help? I'm sure I've overlooked something, I just don't have the experience yet to know what it is. Thanks in advance for your time.

Apologies to all who spent their time on the above post. I resolved all the problems and it involved an embarrassing bit of ****pit trouble. MODERATOR, if you read the above post, of which I edited the subject to keep persons from wasting their time, please remove it and this one. Thanks for everyone's help in the past. Later.

:D Well...glad to hear you got it running. As for deleting this thread you can go to EDIT on your first post -- the first post of the thread and then select delete when the edit screen pops up. Then select edit and it'll delete the whole thread. The only limit with that is that I am not sure if new members have that ability. Anyway, try it. And the thread will just slowly disappear anyway. The mods/admins don't delete any threads unless they are offensive.
