Help with slow network. My network is dragging!!!
Network Information:
COX cable runs into a Surfboard cable modem, modem runs into a LINKSYS DSL/cable router assigning private ips, router runs into two 3COM switches which takes the lines into the patch panel. The server is a Cyberstar PIII 798 MHZ 256 RAM with SCSI drives. TCP/IP and Net Beui are installed as protocols. The server and the additional workstations are running Command anti-virus protection.
The workstations are PIII 900MHZ with 256 RAM, and they access the server daily to retrieve information from their software databases and records. The majority of the workstations are accessing the database slowly, but the internet speed is fair.
What are some diagnose tools/software that I can use to troubleshoot this network? Are there some network configuration changes that some of you experts would recommend? Please provide me with some feedback that will help seed of this network!
Thanks for your help….
