hi there .. I hope someone can help....

verizon dsl has this awful software to get there dsl pppoe connection to the net to run for win2k,me,98 .... but in xp professional it isnt needed .... now heres my questions....

how can i get winxp to automatically run my pppoe connection in win xp upon bootup.... i can have explorer startup while booting up which will do it..... but i prefur opera.... and really dont wanna start a browser im guessing how to set this up is this is in the registry but how and where.......

ok next question how can i set up a pppoe connection without there stupid software in win2 k .... or in 98 and do the same have it boot up and "dial" my dsl pppoe

also in win 2k and 98se ......

ive worked for companies that limit users access to programs on their systems and what they can see on the desktop and startbar based on each user/ group ... where can i find a tutorial on setting up a template for users (98/2k/xp) as to what programs and stuff including net acess they can and cant use/see on a microshaft os .... ever have a child mess around with your codewarrior compiler and really make a mess of your desktop and stuff cause he couldent find his game icons .... i did and never want to go thru it again ....

also does anybody make an aftermarket gui that simular to xp's new user logon page has picture icons and names to be used for loging in users in 98 /2000 ... the new xp interface is easier for the family and the older 98 (233 mhz k6_2) runs slow as a dog with xp ... so id like to have an easer user logon setup ... ie the other halfs request or go buy a faster box and im a cheap puppy at heart...heheheheh

anybody that has any answers , or web sites of interest about these questions or windows shell custimization and tweaking , or canned software they can recomend to help i would greatly appreciate ....
please feel free to email me @ albcodin@yahoo.com

This is for XP to connect on boot.
1) In Control Panel open "Network Connections"
2) Right click on your broadband connection icon and select "Properties"
3) Uncheck "Prompt for name and password..."
4) Click "OK"
5) Open your "C:/Documents and settings" folder
6) Open the "All Users" folder
7) Open the "Start Menu" folder
8) Open the "Programs" folder
9) Go to your Programs Folder -> Startup
9) Copy a short-cut of your Broadband Connection, from the Network Connections folder in to the "Startup" folder

Or you can try this:
1) Go to Start Menu -> "Control Panel"
2) Click on "Network and Internet Connections" ->
3) Click on "Network Connections"
4) Right click the icon for your PPPoE connection -> Choose "Properties"
5) "Options" tab, uncheck "Prompt for name and password, certificate etc"
6) Done, you now will not be asked to click connect!
Create a shortcut for your Broadband Connection, place it on your desktop
Go to Start Menu -> "Programs" -> "System Tools" -> "Scheduled Tasks"
Double click "Add Scheduled Task"
Click "Next"
Click "Browse" -> browse to the shortcut you had placed on your desktop -> Select it -> Click "Open"
Click "When my computer starts"
Click "Next"
Enter the Username and password for the administrator on your PC, if you do not use passwords to log in, leave it blank -> Click "Next"
Click "Finish"

You have the choice of other PPPoE software for Windows 98 or Win 2K, or getting a router, but you have to use some method of PPPoE. YOu can use ENterNet, RASPPPoE, or NetVoyager (The two later are free)
