This is the first time i have ever posted anything on any forum but i am desperate for information, insights or answers.

I got hooked up to AT&T Broadband cable 3 days ago (for the 1st time i will have speeds above 45K). I have the following info:

bandwith (1.3 million to 2.1million bits per second) or so there tech said, and i have ran about 20 other speed test from various sites that are within that range. Yet, from the second i was connected i have had problems with pages loading. Some take up to 5 minutes to load for no apparent reason.

I have tweaked my system with every recommended modification with no improvement. Tech support has no answer.

Can anyone give me any answers. Please help.

P.S.

I have a P3 933 with 512mb 133 sdram with a 20 gb ultra ata66 7200 rpm hd(60% avaiable), a 64mb geoforce 3 video card, running w98se with ie6.

maybe you are to join us comrades in our long trail of tears. welcome to the club. you have only just begun. Now, the ritual is this my freshman. You pay 50 dollars a month or face prosecution. Second, you are to take a verbal assault by a high school dropout tech support person atleist 2 times a month. If you do this. then you will be in our club and we will consider you a_communist Peasant like everyone here at the speedguide. Further, you are to always beg a customer service person to please let you keep paying 50 dollars a month so that they will not drop you.

How are the rest of your connection speeds going? If you try to download something what transfer rates do you get??

Are you sure its not the webpage itself. Some websites are notoriously slow. Click around on the web, do all pages load slowly. Also, get up in the middle of the night or very early in the morning and try those same webpages, if they load much quicker its not your fault. If the webpage you are trying to access is very popular, they cannot keep up with usage. I have a favorite web computer forum (ZDNet) , using it during peak times of day is very difficult. I try to visit on weekend mornings, early, you can zip around at an amazing speed. At three in the afternoon it will take 3 or 4 minutes to load forum.
