View Full Version : Thinking of swiching from Adaptec to Nero...Advice?
I'm running EasyCD 5 Platinum, but I'm thinking of swiching to Nero, I've heard nothing but good things about it. Here's the thing, all my CDRW's are done (formated) with DirectCD. Will Nero see them, or will I have to copy everything to hdd & reformat using Nero & then recopy everything back. Does Nero have a seperate program like DirectCD for CDRW's, is the GUI/interface alot different then Adaptec. Also what about CDR's that I did not "close" fully. Which version of Nero makes nice with XP if I use that O/S. Of course any additional advice is always greatly appreciated. Thanks Ilmars

There is NO comparison, Nero is by far better. I had buffer underruns constantly with Adaptec, NEVER had one with Nero.
Download a demo to see what it looks like. It is way better than Easy cd.

Any version from Nero from 5.5.5.1 and up have full support for WinXP.
download the demo to see if you like it, as it does take some getting used to from Adaptec.
why did you format your CD's with Direct CD? seems like kind of a waste...doesn't the Direct CD take up 100+MB of space on the CD? i read somewhere they did. if not, no biggie.
And Nero does a fine job of reading "Unfinalized" CD's. that's how some of my CD"s are, so I can just keep on adding on to them.

Do more research into uninstalling adept. I've heard some horror stories about it not wanting to be uninstalled, so it may cause problems.

That extra space on your Direct CDRW's will include a reader program. So if you uninstall EasyCD and install Nero, when you load up one of your RW's set for Direct CD, it will promt you to install the reader.

I really love nero but here are a few problems I've had lately and can't figure them out. I like ezcd creator too but nero just gives me more options.

Switch to Nero. I also was running Easy Creator and liked the direct CD option. When I put XP on I went to Nero with the new update. I am yet to have any issues with it. It is excellent for burning everything. Will do everything Easy Creator will do with more options. Make the switch.
