shuttle ak31 and Nero problems...

I just put together my new system (shuttle ak31 ver3, Geforce 3 ti200, xp1600, 350 watt ps, maxtor ide drive, winxp pro) :D and was trying to use nero but it gave me an error. After I installed it, I tried to run it and it keeps getting stuck at the 'Scanning SCSI\IDE' splash screen. It then proceeds to make everything really slow, stop responding and causing me to improperly shut down which triggers a psychotic episode.

My question is I haven't installed the Via 4 in 1 drivers because I heard you don't need to in Winxp, but should I? I have heard they either offer no improvement or seriously fubar your system. Any help please!

what's your CDRW drive? do you have that hooked up good with latest drivers?

as for the Via...I think they include a new version with XP or something....but the latest version of the Via is 4.37 I think, I have those installed, with no problems...so thats worth a try too

I guess I should have mentioned that I had nero working with winxp with my old 366 celeron. Stop laughing. But, since I installed the shuttle with the via chipset, it doesn't work anymore. Can I just install all the 4in1 drivers or should I avoid some?
