View Full Version : outlook express question
I'm trying to open up and view some attachments that I received in my e-mail. Hehe, I know this must sound like a dumb question but I can't figure out how to view the files properly. They range from 5.6KB to 7.8KB in size but I either get nothing or just a few words. what am I doing wrong?
Maybe the sender didn't attach the files properly...
Hi,
were you expecting the attachments?
Pictures? Text? Program? What extension?
Check the settings for what OE is set to allow.
Or is that you answering your question in the second post?
Croc.
what programs were the attached files created in?
what are there extensions... like .doc .bmp .wpd .jpg etc...
for example if the files were created in Corel word perfect 8.0 or higher MS word will not be able to convert them and display only garble, only v7.0 and under will MS word convert word perfect files.
I just sent a reply to the sender asking that very same question. I asked what the extensions were and if they were in fact attached correctly. When I attempt to open the attachments they all have a .eml extension (hmm) which stands for....what???
Maybe e-mail.... It's all humourous stuff, so I think it's either pictures, mpg's or short text files. Anyone know what .EML files are?
Sloppy
.eml is AOL email , usally when a user on AOL fowards me a email from someone else it's .eml
yea these attachments were forwarded to multiple persons including me. How do open thses Aol based attachments? Will I need to find out the original attachment's file-type and rename it? I've written back to the sender asking for information on the file type but that may be awhile in coming....and I'm dying to see these :D . allright thx,
Sloppy
should be able to dbl click them open. Open the email and in the attachment line just dbl click the attacment and it will prob prompt you to open it... just open it
In the security settings for Outlook Express there is a setting that instructs the program not to open "attachments that may be harmful or contain a virus. You may have this box checked.
