is an average of 36ms ping to my gateway good or bad? if bad, then what are the pings i should be getting?

That's a taste high, but not horrible by any means. Especially for a Sunday evening when traffic is a bit on the high side. I am getting 10-22 on mine right now.

My average is 26ms.

The real question is "What kind of problem are you having?" Ping times are important but if your speeds are good, then who really cares?

Check out www.dslreports.com for some good tweaks and speed tests. If your running at good speeds don't worry about it. :rotfl:

I get 7-8ms. (But i'm 25 kilometres away)

i'm getting OK speeds...i was just wondering about that because i used to have great speeds...thanks to all who replied!

I don't think that 36ms to your gateway is that bad. Yes, people get better, but some people get worse.

There isn't much that your ISP will do unless you have 300+ ms pings within their network.
