I am looking at a Linksys cable/DSL 4 port 10/100 router.
Any other ones I should mabey have a look at first before buying this one?
My DSL connection is a single Dynamic IP so rather than upgrading my internet package I was going to go with a router to hook up my two computers on the same IP.
Would a hub mabey be a better way to go?

I would say a linksys is better.. a hub won't work as well...

see what others have to say about it.

stay away from linksys...get a netgear router, much better quality

Definitely a router. Also check out NetGear and Zyxel routers. I personally prefer the NetGear/Zyxel routers as they are more robust and feature laden than the Linky, but like always, ya get what ya pay for. There are tons of satisfied Linky users out there.

I have a old hub laying around here somewhere...

NetGear RT314 has been flawless. ;)

So I guess I will go with a router then, I had a look at a four different stores here and only one carried Netgear products and they were out of the Netgear routers oddly enough they had a bunch of the Linksys four port DSL routers. Every store in town seems to have Linksys and D-Link routers. It looks like I have some research ahead of me here:D

Thanks to everyone out there for the help :)

4 port Netgear kick ass, but I've never had a problem with my linksys 4 port 10/100 router. Also, i've heard that the netgear is best for gaming, havent tried linksys in gaming.....yet

A much overlooked router is the 4 port unit from SMC
I have had no problems with it, and all ports
are reported stealth via:

Shield's UP! (https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2)

The added bonus that I love is the
built in print server! :D

I have never used anything but my netgear and I must say that it is incredible! 5 minute install and I have NEVER had even 1 minute of downtime. I did look at the Lync and Netgear side bye side before I made my decission. The first thing I noticed was the Netgear was heavier and made of Metal. the lync was weightless and plastic.. food for thought. I have heard numerous horror stories about Lyncsis..

Stay away from the D-Link....Linksys routers are "OK", decent for the average user...NetGears are better quality, faster than Linksys routers. But for hardcore gamers, Nexland ISB SOHO's are far the fastest...optimized expecially for gamers.

I have to agree,, I have been running 3 PCs all gaming with my Nexland, with absolutly no hit on ping times,,, my Nexland totally blows the Linky I had out of the water.;) if you have the extra cash and you are a gamer with multiple rigs then I would recommend the Nexland.

Yah, had a Linky, NetGear, and Netopia before. The Nexland goes toe to toe on WAN speeds with the 300 dollar Netopia...., blows the other two out of the water. What I do like better is it's fast switch for LAN transfers.

I have D-Link DI-704 Router has been working great for me so far. But I am getting alot of ping spikes lately which could be caused by that router. Netgear is a little bulky though. Linksys looks to be very stable at work.
