Here's my situation:

Me and my 5 other friends are moving in together. Originally in the house there is a cable internet connection, and we're planning to get another adsl connection since we don't want the internet to be bogged down when somebody's downloading stuff.(some of us download stuff constantly...)

We've got a netgear rt314 router, a 5 port hub, a winxp pro server with 2 nics, and each of us has our own computer.

So is there a way that we can all use the two internet connections in the same network with the equipment we have? Since we don't want to spend the money to get the 2wan router(however spending money to get an extra nic is ok). If there is a way to do this, how do we set it up? I am aware that only load balancing can be achieved(of course if we can also add up the speed that would be the best, but if it's not possible, then no need to mention it). Some help would be appreciated, thanks!

would be interesting if you could make that work :D

you could always get another router with built in 4 port
switch and run it off the ADSL.

that way 3 of you connect to cable, and 3 of you use
the ADSL.

Use your RT314 router and your WinXP Pro PC to connect both of your Internet connections individually. Determine who's to use which connection, and assign two private LAN IP segments to separate those that are to use the cable modem, and the DSL modem. Configure the LAN interface of your RT314 router to use a segment like 10.15.11.0, and your WinXP Pro NIC to use a segment like 10.16.11.0. You may also need to install ICS on your WinXP Pro PC to share the Internet connection that Internet connection. Once you've done that, you can then connect a LAN port from the RT314 to a port on that 5 port hub. You can do likewise with the WinXP Pro PC. Make sure you don't connect the cables to the uplink port on that 5 port hub, you will get no connectivity if you do.

Configure the workstations to either use 10.15.11.2 ~ 254 or 10.16.11.2 ~ 254 for each connection to be assigned to. Make sure you specify the gateway correctly for each respective segment. If you designate your RT314 router a LAN IP address of 10.15.11.1, all workstations that connect to it must have that same IP address as the default gateway. The same goes for the other segment.

You will also need DNS servers. You can either specify your default gateway as your DNS server, or you can use your ISP-maintained DNS servers. I would recommend using your ISP's, their domain name server cache will likely give you better performance.
