Hey Guys,
Happy new year!
What kind of speeds are you guys getting for your linksys routers, 4 port routers? I'm getting about 3.5 - 4.5 mbps. I should be getting a lot faster right? I think I should be considering that my network is 200mbytes full duplex. NICs are 10/100 dlinks.

#1 comp

650 OC to 806mhz quantum HD 7200rpm 30gig udma 66 burst speed is 3.5mpbs
2nd HD fujistu udma 33 rpm 5400 burst speed 18.7mbps

#2 comp
800mhz ibm desktar 30gig 7200 udma 100 burst speed 78mbps

QUANTUM ---> IBM = 3.5mbps
FUJISTU ---> IBM 4.5mpbs

What speeds you guys getting?
I figured out the speeds are due to VIA chipsets drivers. I am so unhappy with the chipsets.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!:cool:

I hyave the Linksys 8 port router and get the same speeds on the net as before I networked my 5 systems.

Good speed transfers between computers on the network too. I transferred a 370 MB folder of MP3's from my kids system to mine in about 3 minutes, or roughly 100MB/sec using netbeui.

Hey what about your network tweaks?
tcpwindow etc...

actually the
MSI Pro 266 Master is a Via Pro 266 Chipset..

and the Abit KG7 has AMD 760 and VIA Southbridge

the Chaintech 5SSV has a SIS chipset (not sure on that last one)

no tweaks really
only thing I have in the router I set MTU to 1500 but I don't think it should affect LAN speeds though..
