View Full Version : Never Use AOL
YES I KNOW AOL SUCKS, BUT THIS TOPS IT ALL
I posted a while back about problems with AOL cable. It is now two weeks since they installed the modem, and I have yet to use it. Their service has not worked for one day yet, and I called tech support many many times. My most recent two calls were the most frustrating yet. Firstly I was told to download the newest revision using dialup, it only took 2 hours. I installed it, and still no connection. Called tech support back, and got another admition that their is still a software problem. I asked for an explanation of what it was and wasn't given one. The tech support explained to me that AOL won't even tell them waht the problem is, they are just sent to deal with an unknown problem, and give no real solution. If anyone even thinks of using AOL for anything don't. I feel we should work our hardest to send them down with all the other failed .com's.

I fell your pain, but AOL ain't going anywhere, anytime soon. Just like with me and I have to deal wtih the crap that's coming down with the new ATT Comcast mess that's looking to rape us cable users of money and reduced services, turning the Internet bass-ackwards and stunting its growth by 10 years.
Leave it to Corporate Amercia to screw up a good thing. We talked about all this back in the early 90's before the Net got hardly even noticed and most people were on home-run BBS's.
Personally, I think it's all a conspiracy by the RIAA so we don't trade so much music. ;)

people complain about corporations but they get right back in line to buy the things they offer...kinda like complaining about a crack dealers high prices and low quality as you walk to his house to buy more...if you dont like a product dont buy it...its not like you are required to buy the things they sell...guess what?...if corporations were not offering you things like gasoline and cable access they would not be available and you would be walkin and using snailmail...had any recent experiences with government snailmail lately?...or any government run agency?...hah...people act like they deserve all of this stuff as a natural right or something...like if you cant get super cable download speeds that you heard someone else is getting then you are being robbed....if you dont like corporate amercia (as you call it)...tell me where it is better?...you cant answer that question i bet...yer lucky to live in corporate amercia...cuz if you didnt you would probably be lucky to even have dial-up

I know a Tier 3 tech at AOL. Have a circuit, order, any type of customer ID #? I'll ask him to take a look at any troubleticket logs.
AOL Is Evil.....The Spawn Of SATAN..... It Must Be Stopped At All Costs....:p

I think people are complaining about corporations' shady advertising practices and not necessarily the companies themselves.
All I know is that I was told by Comcast that my speed WOULD NOT change after the transition. Well, you know what, my speed is 1/3 of what it was less than two weeks ago.
Let's calculate this....
3.5 Mb divided by $40 is about $11.43 per Mb. Now, it's 1.5 Mb divided by that same $40 which ends up being $26.67 per Mb.
Is paying the same price for 1/3 of what you were originally getting being robbed? You're damn straight it is.
Besides, the only other options are what?? 56K (ha ha), DSL (ha again), T1 or T3 (chokes on price)...
