Here's the story.
*My @Home cable modem goes live around Sept 1, 2001.
*I have no prolems, good DL speed good lats for gaming.
*Suddenly, my DL speed is "4 times faster than a 56k modem", my lats go through the roof on the "zone" 3000plus .. eeeeeeeeeek!!!
* I have changed nothing on my end and I mean nothing.
I read about the ongoing migration from A&T to Comcast but most cases seem to be out West. I am located in the South Nashville Tennessee area. I am not aware of any new trunk or feeder lines going active ot any new subdivisions going live around me. Any one got any thoughts. Do you think this is the result of this "ongoing migration". I guess it could even be a bad amp on the poles somewhere upstream from me in the system.
If you got ideas let me know. :) Happy New Years!!!

Well I hope this ends up where I think it does.
I haven't changed anything. The service is the problem not me.
Then it's time to spend some time on the phone with the techs. I'm so glad I'm not you. ;) Do they have any tech support left? Good luck, man.

@home is smoking in Phoenix.
We change over 1/11/02 to Cox network.
Will miss at home no matter what happens.

Well, I finally got through to A "trained broadband specialist", and I use that phase with enthusiasm, who was able to do nothing other than tell me I was behind a firewall, Jeez. I can make up something better than that. I do have a Linksys 4 port dsl/cable "router" but, I am in the DMZ not behind the built in firewall of that unit. I even took the router out of the picture and ran direct from my pc to the cablemodem. Still my bandwidth was around 290k-350k, and she said i was still behind the firewall. It really makes you stop and think, how do companies mismanage funds and go bankrupt in times where the oportunity to make serious gains and fortunes is so ripe? Well here is just one example. I still have trouble understanding how a company with 4.1 million subs can end up "TU". Anyway, we will see what happens on 1/8/02 when the "broadband engineering on-site specialist" arrives to answer all my questions on broadband and life in general. Gee, I can hardly wait. I also find it interesting that when i signed up it was for $9.95 a month until 1/1/02 and my service went to crap on 12/29/01 and I would now be subject to the regular full monthly charge. But, I am sure that has nothing to do with it, right?
