My desktop is an 800 Mhz P III Windows Me and I average around 1.5 to 2.0 Mbps download. My laptop is a 266Mhz Cyrix Windows 98 and I get around 600 Kbps to 750 Kbps. They are both going through the same router and both have been tweaked. Doe sthe power of the processor have an effect on bandwidth speeds?

Some say yes... most say no. Test your setup and let us know what you find.

*edit*

Here at Speed Guide... you can "tweak" your system to near the caps regardless of CPU and/or RAM. More CPU or RAM can't get you over your caps. However... additional tweaking can reduce pings, packet loss, latency and the list goes on.

Depends....... File download it really shouldn't matter. While Web Browsing on the other hand, CPU/RAM Speed will MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.
