I have a home network consisting of about 6 computers and 2 laptops. I am running Verizon DSL through the network, and its advertised speed is 768kb/s download. But...on my computer it downloads at 495kb/s, and on the laptop it downloads at 734kb/s. Why is that? Is there a way in which I can tweak or fix that difference in speed from the same ISP???

You probably just need to tweak your boxes. Check out the tweaking forum. Tons of on-hand info there and directions to the many tweaking utilities out there.

Oh uh...Sorry for the techie terms there.

If you go over to the Tweaking forum, there is a lot of information about tweaking your computers (boxes) to get the most out of them. There are quite a few utilities for doing just that and you just have to pick which one you want to use. What these utilities do is to 'tweak' your broadband registry settings to try and get the max speeds from our cable/DSL modems. Each setup is different, so you just have to kinda play with it for awhile and test things out until you're satisfied with your speed.
