you are ok to most standars..... the only thing the router will not prevent you of getting its spyware and cookies..... you are running behind NAT and you computer to the internet its ... well not there. I had firewall install in my pc but as soon as I got the Lynksys router I remove it and haven't had a problems since..:2cool:
Speaking for myself here....
I use the software firewall along with my router so I can catch/stop anything outgoing.
Also it's an added failsafe should anyone get through the router, NetBEUI and passwords :D.
I just got a linksys 8 port router and hooked up 5 systems to it.
3 of those systems are for my 3 kids.
Therefore I still run my software firewall. Plus, as you may or may not know, all packet headers coming & going from a system behing a router still contain the ip# assigned by the cable or dsl isp, so that means that all webservers visited have the real ip addtress of your router/isp acount. Certain UDP packetys will NOT get dropped by a NAT setup and therefore will get stopped by a software firewall.
Those udp packets are retalively harmless, but could tell a hacker important info IF the softwall did not prevent your computer from responding to the udp requests.
I thought originally that I would no longer need my softwall until I inspected the unsolicited udp requests that came through the router!
