My cable company (Cox) refuses to hook up my cable modem. Their reason: not compatible.
I have:
LINKSYS's BEFCMU10 (ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/befcmu10ug.pdf)
They recommend:
Toshiba's PCX1100U (http://www.toshiba.com/taisnpd/pdf/pcx1100u_datasheet.pdf)
(these are links to the PDF datasheets)
To me they look EXACTLY the same, except that my modem only has DOCSIS1.0 not DOCSIS1.1, BUT, Cox's website only says "DOCSIS compliant" and Linksys will probably have a firmware upgrade for my modem soon anyway...
Someone please tell me who is right.
Something for laughs... The cable guy who came to hook everything up actually Unhooked my modem which was already setup with USB and plugged in a Ethernet cable to the modem and couldn't find the port on the computer (which is why I had it plugged in using USB :p)
