Hey guys, I jus reloaded Win2k because Im so sick of 98... Ne wayz I have halflife installed so I can play CS. The thing I notice while running CS on Win2k is that even though my framerates are actually higher than they were on 98 (60- 99fps), the game looks really choppy and not nearly as smooth... even on a nice 25 ping server. Anyone else out there experiencing any similar behaviour- lemme know if there is a fix... oh BTW, I am stuck @ 60hz default refresh rate. I used to be able to edit out the rates I didnt want in regedit, but it seems all that has changed and I cant access those ne more. I have all the latest drivers for my tnt2 ultra.
TIA

I'm not to familiar with win2k and all, but do you need to download a different driver for your graphics card? That's the only thing I can think of right now. I just figure it possibly could be a driver, or something in the settings.
Good luck

Well Im using the win2k Det.XP drivers 21.83 I think...I used the 9x version when I was running 98 and I was really impressed. Im inclined to think my refresh is affecting the overall smoothness (is that a word) of CS. 60hz is bayud mkay
:D
You will need the Nvidia Refresh rate fix for Windows 2000 to fix the refresh rate thing.. and all you have to do is disable vsync and you wont be limited by refresh rate.
And Ims ure your choppyness is due to the refresh rate if you had vsync on. And those TNT2's of any flavor were never know for there FPS power.. All though with that ultra you should be able to reach 99 non stop if you overclock it high enough... I had my TNT2 m64 16MB @ 165/175 stable with a lil extra cooling of course and I got good frame rates for what the card was and with my slower 450Mhz cpu...
Also.. make sure you are running the game in OpenGL... ;)

Ok I after hours of trial and error I found a utility that REALLY fixes refresh rates in win2k: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm
powerstrip is all you need, it also has alot of other great features that make win2k a pleasure ;) :p :D
I highly recomend this to every win2k user who plays games
