Since I got a new motherboard and I am running windows XP, I have to reformat just to get it to boot with the new windows. I hate that about the 2000 kernal. so now I gotta go thru all this partition bulll **** and then delete the old one after copying 30 gigs of stuff over! well that just kinda sux. oh well... the new motherboard should be nice to have.

hehe, I didnt know a situation could be "gay".. lol
anyhow.. its probably best to format rather than swapping in a harddrive with an OS setup for other hardware on it. Just my opinion though... I would have formatted regardless.

Yup, I agree. Yes Windows will reload the new drivers and eventually work "OK"....it's still clogged up with mixed hardware and drivers. Reboot into safe mode and check out Device Mangler and you'll see all your old stuff.
To keep it running best, when you switch motherboards, format C and re-install.

As Ping said you would proubly be better off reformatting from the begaining. Your drivers are mess up now, wait till you try and guess wich ones belong. Plus in the mean time you will have loads of proublems. I know I have been repairing and building computers for over 20 years. GoodLuck!;) Hope you get it figure out!
