That possibility does exist, but right now several of the cable companies are still in negotiations with @home to maintain service. It doesn't appear that AT&T has very good relations with @home, as their service with them has ceased as of earlier today or last night (not sure which).
Even if @home completely disappears off of the face of the earth, most cable companies have contingency plans in the works and will have their customers back up in running eventually (some may be up to several weeks - depends on the system).
