I have a new machine. PC266 Mainboard, 1Ghz CPU, 256 Mg RAM, 20 Gig HD.

I'm unable to load anything without the puter freezing up on me. I have cleared the CMOS and re-entered all BIOS settings. I've ran FDISK said yes to large disk support and partitioned using both the max available and 50% space. I've formatted the drive. I've ran scandisk and defrag, I've also run Norton Utilities. I've check Jumpers, cable connections, even slapped it a couple times.
The hard drive is OK, I put it in another puter and loaded Win98 without any problem. I've also switched CDROM's.

I still have the freezing problem. I realize it's winter in Kansas but it's not that cold out.

Do any of you experts have any idea what my problem is. I Already realize I should've bought a different Motherboard.

HELP
:D

Good one! :)

Seriouslly though, Have you tried removing all your cards except the video then adding each card back one at a time?

i hate to say it......
and im not saying that this TOTALLY IS your problem....BUT

when i start having problems loading the OS on a machine....and it does like what your describing.......i have found that it ends up being the cpu or the mobo.

if its possible.....try a different cpu in the machine and see what happens.
