everytime i install a video game on my computer, and follow the instructions, it never works. whe i put the cd in, it never pops up automatically, and now whenever i push play the logo comes on the screen and doesn't change. my cd buffer is still spinning like crazy, but when it slows down it still doesn't do anything. this has happened to all the half life games i've bought, and now this stupid race car game i'm getting upset. I'm beyond upset. i would love anyone's help on this matter, because it is driving me nuts.

It's in the Device Manager, in the properties of the CDRom/settings tab. A little box that says "Auto insert notification". Check it :)

Right click the "My Computer Icon on your desktop, and select 'Properties' to get to the Device Manager tab.

Yours is set up right. I don't know what else to tell you. Has the thing been installing programs o.k.?

If DMA is checked, try unchecking it. If your CDRom doesn't support DMA then it will not work properly with it checked.

With so little info, we could be back and forth for days with Q's and A's. I usually stay away from threads with little info. No info in your profile either, maybe your running Linux on a Palm Pilot, and it's setup wrong, who knows?

Try using the system file checker too, maybe you've got some corrupt files. Start|Run sfc [enter]
