Since i changed to XP pro from ME has been running smooth and crashfree but online gaming is really slow, it used to be pretty fast and almost lag-free, what could I do to improve?Downloads are usually 350-400 kb/sec,that's as usual. I have cable;

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 49 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Your line speed:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
904.7 Kbps
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
110.9 K bytes/sec
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

download start time: 1006803691290
download end time: 1006803691741
download time: 0.451
download size in thousands of bytes: 50
estimated line speed (K bits per second): 904.7
estimated line speed (K bytes per second): 110.9

Tweak the settings of the game you play

Hi.

I agree with boggy.

Also, it depends on the game. Go to their sites and check up something pertaining to your situation. You never know; it may be that game.

One similarity between these popular online games nowadays, that i find, is that they have some sort of option that referres to the "maxclientrate". Now it may not be termed that in some games, but im referring to the amount of traffic allowed for each individual person (client). Increasing that experimentally may help!

bye.

well take a look at the game and see that it can't be tweaked, it's a really small file, but it beats unreal tournament and games like that :p ... it's great when you are familiar with the world and have friends who also play.

Well, I don't think there is a tweak out there and here that can tweak your ms. However, you can find yourself a fast and reliable server to play and you wouldn't have to worry as much. Indy, a tech who works for @Home, has access to Internet without Caps, and he has hosted a server for games and others. You can check it out in the General forum if you would like to play on it.:)
