I was reading about network card buffer settings. I was wonder what are the optimal settings for win2k and also default. One other thing how come i can't reach over a meg. Lately my connection droped more then ever. This setting is working for me dont' get me wrong. The thing of it is all of sudden it drops down i don't know if it's lag some setting or what. Take a look let me know if you see something I don't Thanx
P.S. That beta tweak program works good

amk62 450
512mbs of ram
2 way cable
windows 2000

TCP options string = 020405b401030303

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 420480
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 52560
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 16819.2 kbps (2102.4 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 6727.68 kbps (840.96 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 114 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = OFF

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Don't know about the buffer settings but there a couple of changes you can make.

Turn off MTU Discovery and turn on TimeStamps. Also Time To Live (TTL) could be lower. Set it to 64.
