Damn Found a Trojan..plz help!!

I detected it with McAfee.

Its a Trojan called counter[1].js

Attributes are :computer virus and Trojan File

Im running Win2k and its detected in temp internet files\content.ie5\435zq6zp\counter[1].js

Now I have 2 options. To either DELETE or QUARANTINE

What do I do and whats the difference??

Plz advise me.

well as you mentioned you have 2 options. It really depends on what makes you more comfortable. Quarantining is a good way to go , if you want to put the virus on floppy and send to McAfee, but if you just want it gone, i would delete it.

OK deleted it using mcafee

But it said the trojan is deleted "Please restore it from your backups"

How do I do that?

Just attempted a search at MacAfee by using the *counter[1].js*
you posted and their results were negative. Nothing listed for it.

Any other name? Was the entry you typed as per the MacAfee advice?

There could possibly be a copy of the virus stored.
Go to Find/Files or Folders/and enter the name of the file as it was shown in the warning.
Also, try adding the letters cpy after the .(dot).

Also it is possible the file extension was changed as part of the detection.
The extension .js* may have been changed from .jse by MacAfee. The other extension it could be is .js (just two letters.)

That was the correct trojan file.

I just clicked on delete and it said to restore from backup.
