Welcome to Speed Guide. Take the SG TCP/Ip Analyzer test at the top of thiis forum then copy and paste the results here in this thread. Please X out your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030001010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 117 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
You've got to make that 0 a 1
Welcome to SG!
On second thought.... you don't need to make that a 1. How are your speeds? Are you happy with what you've got?

Here r my results from:
http://chi.speakeasy.net/
Your download speed : 5266005 bps, or 5266 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 642.8 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 123839 bps, or 123 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!
My download speed is fine except my upload speed really sucks. Sometimes it's goin at 300kb/s then down to 2kb/s. Used all the SG patches but still my upload speed sucks.

Wow! Nice download speed. Check with your provider and see what they say you should have. I have 125 upload.

Those settings don't look like an SG patch. Do you have CableNut installed and if you do did you install it after the SG patch? Also, what OS are you running?
pinoyboy189

Yes I have Cable Nut and I installed after the SG patches. My OS is Win XP Pro.

That is the problem. CableNut removes all prior registry tweaks when it's installed. You have to reinstall the SG Windoes 2K patch. Reboot the take the Analyzer test again and post the results.

Much better. Take a speed test to see how your speeds are now.

That looks good. What are you capped at or you ISP's advertised speeds. Your upload speed may be capped at 128 kbps. The 300 kbps may just have been a surge untill the speed stableized.
pinoyboy189
11-25-01, 07:23 PM
Yes it's capped. My isp is Charter@Home, but the thing is how come when someone is uploading from me it's going 300kb/s down to 100kb/s then to 2kb/s. Why?

It may be that the person who is downloading from you is on a slow connection. Are you running an FTP of trading MP3's?
Also are there multiple connections to your server when the speed is dropping?
pinoyboy189
11-25-01, 07:36 PM
Yea I trade everything, but I always allow only 1 user and when there d/l starts its goin (on average) at 303kb/s to 389kb/s. Here try it.
Ip is:65.12.31.205 username:pinoyboy password:b
D/L anything.

Using NetStat Live to monitor my speed I was averaging 127 kbps so right now everything seems fine. I just think that the people downloading from your server are using slow connections.
Next time that happens, try ping or tracert the ip that's connected. I think you will find that the problem is at their end and not yours.
