hi guys, i port forwarded ports 7601 and 7602 today to run a server so that a friend and i could play multiplayer halo on our xbox's over the net :), well about 4 hours later my internet connection just goes out on me! i try to get into my router through the browser like I always do (type 192.168.1.1 and username/pass) but that doesn’t work, so i go to the command prompt and type ipconfig, and my network ip's are changed! i had to reset my router and redo everything to get it all working again :(
Are you on @home cable?
I have heard that @home has somehow found a way to reset your router remotely.
I haven't been able to figure out how they have done it yet (I'm still looing into it...) but your not the first that have noticed it.
I'm not saying that this is your exact problem but it sounds familiar.

ifconfig will only return the ip address of your pc, not your router or xbox (not sure about xbox connectivity). Do you have the "remote administration' feature enabled? Bad idea if you are really concerned about security. Anyone with a nice dictionary/list cracker will get in eventually.
Do you have DHCP server enabled on your router? Should disable that if you are using port forwarding and set a static, private ip to your pc. How does the xbox access your connection? It may change something on your pc network settings in order to access.
Have fun,
Skye
