Is this just me?

I just got Windows XP yesterday and I am having trouble with my ATI Rage Fury Pro. I go into half life TFC and i play for about 3 minutes and then windows xp shows a bsod and then my computer just restarts. I have tried the ati drivers from there site and the ones that are bundled in with xp but both them are not working. Am i the only one having this problem? Any help plz?

Also I traded my friend my Voodoo 3 3000 card w/16 mb for his ATI Rage Fury Pro 32mb card but I am starting to regret the trade. ARe there drivers for the 3dfx card for windows xp? Has anyone had any trouble with them? Should I switch him back?

Cause I am getting really upset with this ATI Card

Sigh...I've had my rage fury for over a year now. I bought it at the beginning for it's S video and Composite video out. But then, i started to play some games like Diablo 2 so i thought, "This is an ATI video card and should have NO PROBLEM at all". Then i started the game........but.......the game cannot run smooth at all, it freeze every 15 mins and BSOD. Anyways so I added a Voodoo 2 12 MB to my com to see how it works.....boom, all nice and smooth. So overall, i m pretty disappointed at Rage Fury too, you are not the only one. As for the trade, I m not sure but Voodoo 3 would definitely be better than that crappy rage fury on gaming, but as for DVD and other multi media playback, i''ll choose Rage fury....even though i m having some problem playing DVD now cuz of the motherboard conflict i believe.... :(

Hey thanks for the the reply cy. I think I might trade him back to get my voodoo 3 card back cause the only thing I want a video card for is gaming, playing games like ut, and half life tfc. so i might try the voodoo3 and see how it works.

Did you do a fresh install or an upgrade?

I had some video problems that were corrected with a fresh install. I had a Rage Fury, didn't have any problems with it, but that was in Win98SE.


Also you can disable auto shut down in the advanced tab of the system properties. Then check event viewer when it happens to see if it gives you any clues to what happened.

this was a totally clean install of windows xp pro. And I will try what you said but I think I might have fixed I am not sure. I playing TFC in direct 3d and after I installed the new via 4 in 1 drivers for xp the card seems to run fine now but I think I still want my voodoo 3 back

Yep, i think the VooDoo 3 is better than ATI on gaming anyways..... ;)
