a freind of mine just bought a small business (beauty shop), and is looking for some software that will handle a few things......
1) employee(s) clocking in/out.
2) inventory.
3) accounting.
i have used SAP before, which can handle all these things. SAP is horrendously expensive though and is more for production facilities and such. these things are of importance, but they dont necessarily have to be handled by ONE application (though it would be a definite plus), meaning i (he) doesnt really mind using more than one program to get the job done.
any suggestions?

thanks for the tip, TonyT. i managed to find different 2 apps that will cover this (unless i missed one.... which i almost invariably do). thank you very much.
and John, i will do the same for you. hopefully i will turn up a singular app for this. if you find one befroe i do, please lemme know. Oh, and i dont know if you have tried to get ahold of Mike or not. he has been up to his elbows on an emergency problem with a webhosting company he used to work for (MAJOR server crash. RAID 5 array lost its NTFS partition info.......... thank god thats not my problem). anyways, he's not flakey..... just very very busy at times.
Oracle has a small business suite that appears to be configurable.
I just found out about it the other day but haven't had the time to research it much.
Here at work we were looking at a Program named "yes I can run my business" (web search will bring it up). It is Access based. It didn't quite fit our criteria but it appears to be a good price and would work with a small business

Don't know about the clockin part. She may need to keep track of that on cards, but Quickbooks (a Quicken product) is easy to use and not all that expensive.
