Using Starband 360 satellite system and purchased linksys 4 port router. Want to setup 3 additional computers for grandkids to use. Need simple to follow instructions for setup and hopefully a non commerical Network Address Translation NAT software. Have gone to starbandusers.com site, but get confused, by terms and methodalogy.
If anyone could help this simple mined person setup home network, would sure appreciate.

I'm not familiar with Starband/sat conxions...
how does the modem hook up to your comp?

If it hooks up through a Cat 5 cable then just pluging(sp) it into the WAN part of the router should thereoteically work..
not sure though..

this will at least give you a bump if it does not work..

OMFG hey, what part of the country you in? My buddie got bumped like 3 months for receiving his 360. and yes, bala is close, we were looking at the specs for the 360 and its standard ethernet out. Plug a cat five from that into the WAN port on the linky, plug up all your machines to the lan ports on the linky and read linky instructions on browser setup. Im guessing that you will not need port forwarding or any of that as you said you were simple, hehe. For port forwarding you would need to enter the telnet configuration setting. But you should be fine with the intranet web configuration settings. The only problem I can see is that I think starband requires the mac address of the network device directly associated with the 360 modem. You should be able to spoof the main pc's MAC within the web configuration screen on the linky router tho. UGH, not sure I did a real good job of simplistically explaining the setup but there is a bit of info for you. Sorry I couldnt do better, am at work and studying for Net+ Exam I need to take by the end of the month.

Good Luck
