View Full Version : I'm Slowin' Down
:cry:Whenever I start downloading anything I get a nice burst of speed and then as the download proceeds my speed drops off. By the time I get towards the end of the process my download speed is next to nil. Any ideas why this happens? By the way I'm not new to computing, but I am new to modem tweaking. I have a cable connection on the @home network.

It goes like this:
When I was 10 I could really run.
When I was 18 I could still run.
When I hit 51, that is age not speed!
I never slow to that much, but it does happen.
Try changing your rwin.
Any suggestions as to what to change it to?
I assume it slows no matter the site from which you are GETting stuff. How fast does it start? How slow does it get? Have you tried d/ling something from the @Home home page (technically they can't support out side the network). Regardless, try finding out WHERE the slowdown is.

It's probably just traffic from the site you're d/l from. try a peer to peer file transfer with someone relatively close to your geographical location and see if it stays solid and near the senders max upload speed.
Exactly how slow are we talking here? dial up speeds? (3-5 kb/s)
It will usually burst at around 300kb then drops down to near 50kb. I use Download Accelerator if that means anything?

All I got to say is kill the Download Accelerator, I'm on pacbell dsl and my d/l were just getting tooo slow, like around 150kb/sec. W/O it, i'm hitting 288kb/sec on d/l. My upload speed still sucks :(
