I have been trying to make the Linksys router BEFSF41 V.2 Firmware 1.40.1 work with CheckPoint VPN-1 SP-4 3DES Build 4188 SecureClient.

After authenticating myself to VPN, here is what I can and cannot do:
Can: Read email (outlook/exchange); ftp from office servers to me; drag and drop from mapped directories to me.
Can -not- do: Send email; ftp to servers; drag and drop from me to mapped directories.

Outside of VPN I can surf the Internet, send and receive email, and ftp from/to servers.

I have ADSL Westell modem for use with Verizon. Earthlink is my ISP.
I connect the ADSL to the Linksys router.
I run NT 4.0 SP6a.

I enabled PPPOE.
I tried PPTP and IPSec, each separately, then together. For each I provided Port forwarding as recommended by Linksys. I even purchased a 2nd router believing that it could be hardware.

Everything fails to allow me to send anything of substance to the office. If the file is less than 1024 chars, I sometimes have been successful.

I have been emailing Linksys and have asked them to certify that CheckPoint VPN-1 works correctly with their implemenation of PPPOE. They will not answer this question. I have talked with Microsoft, our office IT gurus, and DataComm without any success.

I have logged countless hours trying various combinations, but have had no success.

Can you help? Do you know of users out there who use ADSL to Linksys to CheckPoint VPN-1?

Good morning Bobkadis,
I have a Netgear router and have a lot of problems trying to vpn in to work. NAT is really tough when trying to have a secure connection with vpn.

Here is a link to a forum devoted specifically to Linksys routers. Some very good people there may be able to help you.

Good luck !

My MTU (Max Transmission Unit Size) and TCP Receive Window Size were wrong.

Encapsulation creates a problem with fragmentation.

Could you email the document also? I'll be setting up an installation behind a LinkSys next month.
