In sharing internet access through the network is there a particual way the network its self has to be set up? I mean Lets say all I have is a hub and a cable modem. So the cable coming off the cable modem do I plug that directly into the hub and then connect the other 2 computers to the hub? Or does the host computer need two ethernet cards. One for the cable modem and one to connect to a hub. I read through the online manual for one of the softwares, but was unable to find much on the subject. I apologize if this question has been asked before and I missed it. I don't want to waste anyones time with repeated questions.
If you are talking about using ICS or another software sharing solutions then YES you need 2 nics in the main pc. 1 nic you plug the cable from the cablemodem into and the other nic goes to the hub.

Slitter,
You would be better off getting a router or switching gateway to place between your dsl modem and your hub (or get a router with muliple ports and bypass the hub all together). You can pick one up for under 100 bucks and it will give you a little better security. Plus you will not be dependent on one computer needing to be up in order to have internet connectivity for the other. Its much easier to manage. Well worth it if you have an extra $50 - $100 bucks.

I just wanted to take the software into consideration thank you very much for you help. Considering a second card alone will cost 50 dollars I better go with the router. See my network plan we to use the new intellons powerpacket method that uses your house hold power lines for the reason that the computer are seperate levels, But I was hoping to save money because I already have to buy the router, hub, and a powerpacket that plugs into the wall. One computer is going to be cabled the other is going to be powerpacket. Thank you for all your help.

Hav eyou thought about a wireless solution? I saw on buy.com that you can pick up the linksys wireless router for 199 and the wireless pci cards were $39.90 each. So you figure about $280 and you are up and running. Not sure how much you already have invested in your current plan though.
