I have been trying to map a network drive to a remote pc without any luck. My os is win98 and I am using a Toshiba cable modem with cox@home. I have no problems doing this with dial-up. I was wondering if this is a @home setting that is not allowing me to do this.
trying to map a drive on one of your home network pcs?
If so how is your network setup, you gotta router or something

No, I have no problem with my home LAN, what I am trying to do is map a drive to a pc I have at my office. Like I said, it will work with dial up but I am having trouble with @home. I do have a netgear RP114 router. I have tried to make map the drive without the router and have the same problem.
Most broadband ISP's today block netbios ports 137-139. This will stop you from mapping drives across the Internet. This is good, as it is about the most unsecure thing you could ever do to your corporate network.
You should instead set up a secure, encrypted VPN to your corporate network.
Is this office pc in a domain? Does it hopefully sit behind a firewall?

Yes the office pc is behind a firewall. You pretty much answered my question on the broadband isp. I appreciate the info. I will look into the VPN. Thanks again
