When I go to Excites home page and try to play the game pop it, my computer will all of the sudden shut down and restart. It doesn't go through the normal shut down sequence though, it just immediately powers off and restarts. I can dump XP and go back to Windows ME and it doesn't do this. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be??

I have the following:

Compaq 5wv260
700mhz Duron
320 mb ram
20 gig HDD
AT&T @Home

Thanks for any help in advance.

It's probably your video card. Do you have a 3Dfx video card which isn't onboard and has at least 32MB of its own memory. With Windows XP, whenever something such as hardware can't handle what it's doing, it becomes unstable and causes the system to restart.

That could be, all I have is the stock 8 meg agp slot NVIDIA Vanta LT graphics card. I will try a new card to see if it works. So far this is the only prob I have had with XP. This same thing happened to me when I ran Win2k on here, only I couldn't make it happen, it just randomly happened.
