I really dont like the idea of upgrading from Win2K to XP. I rather just do a clean install. BUT, I was wondering if there are any differences in the quality between the upgrade and the clean install.

This is for XP Pro.

For XP I think clean install is the way to go, actually for any OS clean really is the way to go.

After doing an XP upgrade from 98, and installing 4 XP updates, decided to try and uninstall and do a clean XP installation. W98 refused to work afterwards, creating blue screens at every turn and locking up. Found out the problem was that the uninstall feature of XP leaves some NT files in the registry, and on 3 different drive partitions. After a full system clean up <read fdisk>, i reinstalled W98, and did a clean install of XP, no upgrade. Now i have a tremendous dual boot system. Thanks Speedguide! :rotfl:

Any operating system deserves a clean install! That's like moving into someone's house with all their stuff lying around! And stuff that you don't like and cannot adapt to! :D
