Thanks in advance for your help with an embarrassing newbie question. I have the D-Link 804 gateway with one computer connected directly and one connected via wireless access point. Here's the question--the install of the gateway and the directly connected computer has gone fine, and I'm back on the web. But I am pretty surprised by how much speed I've lost (over even the unoptimized connection, since I just built this system and haven't made any recommended registry tweaks yet), especially since this isn't the wireless connection. I'm using XP on this system, and I believe I turned encryption off in hopes of gaining some speed (different menus and it's a little confusing), but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I tried to run a speed test via the roadrunner page but it loads in about .1 second and tells me my bandwidth is 45937kb/sec, so the test doesn't even appear to be running properly, although it was before I installed the network. I would appreciate any advice on what settings I might check to try for a speed increase, or where I may have gone wrong.
